In relation to our 2012-13 Flagship Cause, “Inequality in the Lecture Hall,” PhD candidate and Flagship Cause chair, Marisa Allison, was featured in a recent article on Inside Higher Ed. Marisa’s doctoral work focusing on women earning their doctorates and the state of adjunct faculty were highlighted, as well as featuring a quote from her:
“As a movement, you’re trying to convince people to go against things they deeply believe about higher education – that if you go to school and get higher degrees, your chances of success will be much higher…the ‘front stage’ of what is happening looks equitable. Student and parents don’t see the things that are unequal.”
